Overview
Mina is a valley a few kilometres east of Masjid al-Haram, famous for its vast fields of permanent white tents. Hajj pilgrims stay there on 8 Dhul-Hijjah and during the days of Tashreeq (11โ13 Dhul-Hijjah).
Significance
The Qur’an says: “And remember Allah during [specific] numbered days” (Qur’an 2:203), which scholars explain as the days spent in Mina. The Jamarat, where pilgrims throw pebbles, and Masjid al-Khayf are located in Mina.
History
Islamic tradition connects the stoning of the Jamarat with the Prophet Ibrahim’s rejection of Satan. The Pledges of Aqabah, in which people from Madinah gave allegiance to the Prophet ๏ทบ before the Hijrah, took place at al-Aqabah on the edge of Mina.

Visiting information
Outside the Hajj season Mina is largely empty and can be seen on a Makkah Ziyarat drive. During Hajj, access is limited to permitted pilgrims.
