Overview
Dhul-Hulayfah, known today as Abyar Ali, is the miqat โ the boundary point for entering ihram โ for pilgrims travelling to Makkah from Madinah. It is marked by Masjid al-Miqat (also called Masjid al-Shajarah).
Significance
Ibn Abbas reported that the Prophet ๏ทบ fixed Dhul-Hulayfah as the miqat for the people of Madinah (Sahih al-Bukhari 1524). The Prophet ๏ทบ entered ihram from here for his Farewell Hajj.
History
A mosque has stood at the site since early Islamic times; the present large mosque, with extensive washing and changing facilities, was built in the modern period.

Visiting information
Open around the clock with washrooms for ghusl and wudu. Umrah pilgrims travelling from Madinah should enter ihram here (or before). ZiyaraWay transfers from Madinah to Makkah can stop at the miqat.
