Overview
Bir Ghars is one of the historic wells of Madinah, located north-east of Masjid Quba. It has been restored and is marked as a heritage site.
Historical reports
The books of Madinan history record that the Prophet ﷺ drank from this well. A narration in Sunan Ibn Majah states that he asked to be washed, after his death, with water from the well of Ghars; scholars of hadith have graded the chain of this narration as weak, so it should be mentioned with caution.
