Overview
Al-Hada and Al-Shafa are mountain areas around Taif, around 2,000 metres high and above. They are much cooler than Makkah and are a favourite place for families to rest after Umrah.
What to see
The Al-Hada road winds down the mountain towards Makkah with wide viewpoints. Taif is famous for its roses, grown in the farms of these highlands, and for its fruit. The Miqat mosque of Wadi Muharram is also in Al-Hada.
Tip
Combine Al-Hada with the mosques of Taif in one day trip from Makkah.

Visiting information
A place for rest and scenery, not a religious site. The road is steep with many bends — travel with an experienced driver. It is cooler than Makkah, so bring a light jacket in winter evenings.
