Option 1: Haramain High-Speed Railway from the airport
The Haramain High-Speed Railway links Makkah and Madinah via stations in Jeddah, King Abdulaziz International Airport and King Abdullah Economic City. According to the Saudi Press Agency (May 2026), the airport station is directly connected to Terminal 1, and the journey from the airport station to Makkah takes approximately 45 minutes.
How to buy tickets
The operator’s official FAQ lists these booking channels: the HHR iOS and Android apps, the website (hhr.sa), the customer care centre (toll-free 920004433), and ticket offices or vending machines at the stations. Check the official timetable for departures on your date — during busy seasons it is sensible to book ahead.
Luggage allowance
The HHR FAQ states one bag per passenger, not exceeding 65 × 55 × 35 cm and a maximum of 25 kg, plus a handbag or laptop bag. If your group is carrying more than this, a road transfer is usually the easier choice.
The last leg: station to hotel
The train takes you to the Haramain Makkah station, not to your hotel’s door. Before you travel, check how far your hotel is from the station and how you will cover that last part. HHR states that taxi services are available at its stations; you can also arrange a pickup in advance.
Option 2: Taxi or ride-hailing app
A car goes door to door, which avoids changing vehicles with luggage. To keep it simple and safe:
- Use licensed airport taxis or a licensed ride-hailing app — avoid unofficial drivers who approach you inside the terminal.
- Confirm the fare (or meter) before the journey starts.
- Have your hotel name and address ready in Arabic and English.
